Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman V. Narayanan said that ISRO was working on a project that was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018 wherein humans will be sent to space.
He was in Coimbatore to take part in a private college function. At Coimbatore Airport, he said that an unmanned satellite would be sent to space in December and the satellite would carry a Vyommitra, a half-humanoid robot developed by ISRO for the Gaganyaan flight. By December end, based on its success, two rockets without human beings would be sent to space.
By 2027 March, ISRO has planned to send humans into space. Gaganyaan trails works are over by 85 per cent, but sending humans to space involved a lot of trials and tests. In the event of an accident, ISRO is working on projects to ferry human beings back safely. Not only ISRO is involved in this project, but also many more organisations, he said.
